Nearly 1.8 million people use public transport in Dubai on New Year's Eve

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported that 1,793,691 people used public transportation on New Year's Eve in Dubai.

769,817 passengers were recorded in the metro: 509,089 people traveled along the red line, and 260,728 - along the green. 32,850 people took the tram, and 393,763 took buses. Sea transport served 53,932 passengers. 543,329 people used taxi services.

RTA has previously developed a plan for New Year's Eve traffic control in heavy traffic, especially in the areas of Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Water Canal. The working hours of the metro and tram were extended: both services worked continuously from dawn December 31, 2016 until midnight January 1, 2017.
