UAE authorities recalled imprisonment for illegal launch of drones

The penalty for illegal use of drones in the United Arab Emirates is a fine or imprisonment.

The General Aviation Administration (GCAA) this week warned residents of the country of punishment for launching unmanned aerial vehicles in prohibited areas.

The GCAA announced on Twitter that unmanned aerial vehicle owners are allowed to use them in designated areas. For managing drones outside these zones, a fine of up to 100 thousand dirhams ($ 27.2 thousand), or imprisonment is stipulated.

Currently, Russian director Arik Manukyan is awaiting trial in the UAE for unauthorized use of a drone in the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi.
