In Sharjah will be fined for advertising on parking meters

The Sharjah City Administration will fine vandals who place unauthorized advertisements on parking meters in the city.

Persons advertising on parking meters will be fined 500 dirhams (more than $ 130). The order will be monitored by the controllers of parking spaces in the municipality of Sharjah.

Ali Ahmed Abugazin, director of the Sharjah City Public Parking Services Department, said stickers and advertisements on parking meters damage the appearance of the devices and interfere with their operation. He said that recently, vandals are increasingly drawing counters and writing words in different languages on them.

Recently, the municipality has launched a campaign to inform citizens through its channels in the social. networks, urging people to stop occupations of this kind, as this negatively affects the aesthetic image of the city.

Abugazin noted that employees of the municipality are monitoring and catching violators around the clock. Hooligans will be fined, as this act is an administrative offense.

The official added that public parking spaces should be kept clean and state property safe. It is forbidden to place any stickers on the parking time meters, write or draw on them. The municipality will incur additional costs for the verification and removal of various kinds of brochures pasted on the counters.

Mr. Abugazin called on the public to cooperate with the municipality and report violations by phone 993. Administration officials will immediately take the necessary measures and arrest the hooligans.

The official added that, despite the campaign to curb the practice of placing leaflets in public places, many people still distribute their advertisements in parking lots, house walls, telephone booths, bus stops, traffic signs, storefronts, etc.

"Such advertising spoils the architectural appearance, and building owners incur additional costs to remove and restore damaged places. Such removal of unauthorized leaflets is a big headache for officials and employees of the municipality," said Abugazin.

"The Emirate of Sharjah is proud of its architectural heritage and wants the buildings to maintain their beautiful appearance. The municipality is promoting a positive image of the emirate and is committed to informing citizens about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and order."
