UAE authorities warned of WhatsApp malware

Telecommunications Authority of the United Arab Emirates warns subscribers of the country about the distribution of malicious programs in instant messengers.

As part of the fight against malicious software, the UAE authorities are now warning residents about the dangers. The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has warned subscribers about the distribution of malware under the guise of PDF files that are sent anonymously by email and in the WhatsApp messenger. It is reported that such letters can cause serious harm to users' devices.

The TRA Computer Emergency Readiness team previously stated that during the first 10 months of 2017, 615 cyber attacks against state, semi-government, and private organizations were detected in the UAE.
