Parks in Abu Dhabi will soon become a favorite destination for grill fans with barbecue equipment.
The municipality of Abu Dhabi has launched a project under which 15 pieces of barbecue equipment and 24 units will be installed along the Abu Dhabi Corniche in Dolphin Park in Eastern Mangroves Corniche.
The project is dictated by the desire of the authorities to protect green spaces and sidewalks from visitors who make barbecue in these areas. The goal is to meet the needs of visitors to parks and provide a suitable environment. At the same time, this helps to maintain parks, green spaces, trees and landscape areas in good condition.
Installation is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018.
Dolphin Park has already installed five pilot barbecue facilities in the areas designated for this purpose by the technical unit of the City Municipal Center.
Hookah and barbecue are not allowed in the parks, but there are exceptions: Heritage Park, Formal Park, Family Park and Nuzha Parks on the Arabian Gulf. These parks allow visitors to barbecue, but only in designated areas.
According to the municipality, the practice of field trips will continue, especially on holidays, to educate the public about the dangers of the environment. The municipality urges residents to contribute to the protection of gardens and green spaces in order to avoid fines.
