Human Genome Research Project Launched in Dubai

In Dubai, they are launching an innovative project to study the human genome, which will predict the state of health in the future.

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced plans for a project called the Human Genome. The project is aimed at improving the qualifications of medical workers and will provide an opportunity to predict the future state of human health.

The aim of the project is to improve the technology for studying the human body to detect changes in the structure of the gene, chromosomes and proteins, which can lead to the development of genetic diseases. This step will allow doctors to fight chronic diseases and cancer, as well as reduce the cost of their treatment and slow down the aging process.

The project is part of the Dubai 10x strategic initiative, which aims to bring Dubai and its government institutions 10 years ahead in all sectors compared to other countries.

Humeid Mohammed Al Katami, Chairman and CEO of DHA, said:

“The creation of a genomic laboratory in Dubai represents a new stage, realizing our forecasts for the future in the field of healthcare and the provision of medical services. With the help of the laboratory, our scientists will be able to collect the first national genetic base for future research, which will serve as a guide for new strategies and plans in healthcare sector. In turn, such a measure will become the basis of Dubai’s competitiveness in the world arena and will lay the foundation for a knowledge-based economy. "

“Inspired by the strategic vision of Sheikh Mohammed Ibn Rashid Al Maktoum, employees of the Dubai Health Authority are ready to play an important role in ensuring the prosperity of our country,” the official added.

Representatives of DHA declare that they will use all their resources and opportunities to implement this ambitious project in order to implement the project a number of subsidiaries will be established, for example: the Department of Pathology and Genetics and the Dubai Cord Blood Research Center (DCRC).

The authorities also established an expert committee on genetics in order to study possible problems during the implementation of the project and to find solutions to overcome them. Specialists of this committee will study reputable international research and experiments, the information received will be used to ensure the project is completed on time.
