On August 1, the authorities of the United Arab Emirates introduce a visa amnesty program. Foreign citizens who violate the status of stay in the UAE will be given a grace period of three months, during which they can either voluntarily leave the country without further prosecution, or change their legal status by paying a fee.
Facilitation of the visa regime will give foreigners who have exceeded their stay the opportunity to improve their situation, will encourage expatriates to legalize their status, or to voluntarily leave the country without further prohibition of entry.
The visa amnesty will last from August 1 to October 31, 2018, if necessary, the period can be extended by two months. Persons who have exceeded their stay in the country will be able to use the amnesty, legally legalize their status or leave the UAE without paying a fine or a ban on further entry.
Key points of a visa amnesty:
- Persons staying in the UAE illegally will be able to apply for a visa by introducing a new sponsor. Illegals will be able to apply for a new visa through Amer centers by paying an immigration fee of 500 dirhams.
- Persons wishing to leave the country can contact the Awir Immigration Immigration Center directly and obtain permission to leave without consequences. The immigration center will issue an exit permit, after which a person will be able to leave the country within 10 days. For obtaining an entry permit it is necessary to pay a fee of 220 dirhams. It is worth noting that at the immigration center, those who want to receive a visa amnesty need to pass fingerprints and a retinal scan.
- Persons who entered the country illegally without documents will receive permission to leave with a ban on entry into the UAE for two years. Thus, they will be able to re-enter the Emirates only after a couple of years.
An exit permit will be issued by the same authority that issued the visa. Therefore, you must contact the immigration centers located in the relevant emirates.
