All car owners in Dubai are required to renew license plates

Dubai authorities have announced the mandatory renewal of license plates on cars.

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that by 2020, all Dubai motorists are required to renew license plates on their vehicles.

We are talking about all cars registered by private individuals, private companies and government departments.

Deadline for car owners - January 1, 2020.

The cost of the signs starts from 35 dirhams ($ US 9.5) and reaches 50 dirhams ($ US 13.6). The price depends on the size of the printed characters.

"From July next year, the RTA will begin issuing compulsory new license plates for cars registered with state and private organizations," the RTA said in a statement.

The introduction of a new generation of license plates is part of RTA’s strategy to bring them into line with a newly developed design that includes three elements: the Dubai brand, number and code.

License plate replacement instructions can be found on the RTA website. Room can be ordered and paid online, and then picked up at the RTA.
