This time the Chanel Haute Couture show was held through the Looking Glass.

For the traditional presentation of the Chanel Haute Couture spring-summer 2017 collection at the Grand Palais, Karl Lagerfeld was guided by the principle “take the atmosphere with 31, rue Cambon, but do not copy every detail”.

The result was a decor dating back to the 1930s and Art Deco. The show was surrounded by mirrors, which reflected the main staircase leading to the CHANEL Haute Couture salons.

Thanks to this, a huge podium kaleidoscope was created in which silhouettes of models appeared and moved endlessly, also reflected in mirror tiles with engraved religious symbols.

The image of this year is a crazy femininity, which finds itself in combed back hair and flat boarders with a slope, in high heels made of silver leather or in boots, in the geometry of the shoulders, slightly raised waist. The glamorous look is based on straight or tubular lines, daring necklines and faux pearl jewelry turning into anklets.

Along with the basic shades of white, silver and gray, the palette is filled with metallic, silver, sparkling and iridescent notes located at the junction of hot and cold, shifting from beige, pink, yellow, blue and pastel green to black and dark blue.

Tweed suits, folding at the waist, thereby emphasized the shapes of tulip skirts. Flirting with the attention of the audience, they became dresses-coats, jackets tucked into a pencil skirt.

In the evening, radzimir, royal satin, organza and taffeta, lush and laminated lace, tulle, jacquard and georgette began to appear on the podium. Mother of pearl floral embroideries and sparkling stones above the sheath dresses opened the way to stoles, feathers and lace.

On the catwalk alternated dresses made in long mirror embroidery, with strips of shiny lace, or balls of feathers.

The show ended with the appearance of CHANEL Ambassador Lily Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, who walked along the catwalk in a wedding dress consisting of transparent frills of pale pink organza.

Celebrities such as Vanessa Paradis, Anna Muglalis, Caroline de Megre, Alma Jodorowski, Kwon Ji Yong (G-Dragon), Park Sin Hye, Cecile Kassel, Lucy Boynton, Laura Smet, could be seen at the Grand Palais show on January 24. Celine Sallett and Carige Tours.
