The grandiose historical epic "The Gladiator" in September can be seen at the Dubai Opera accompanied by live music by the State Orchestra, vocalists and the Armenian choir. Founded in 1938, the orchestra will perform musical themes from the action movie Gladiator, written by composers Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard.
The film takes place in the distant 180 AD. The protagonist Maximus is one of the best generals of the Roman Empire. Under his leadership, the legions defeated many enemies, for which he became the favorite of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, and he was even ready to transfer his power to him, because the Commodus son, according to the ruler, was not worthy of the throne. Upon learning of this, Commodus kills his father, and thereby takes control of the empire in his own hands.
Maximus refuses to swear allegiance to the new ruler, and he gives the order to kill the rebellious general. However, he manages to escape, and severely wounded, as a result of a clash with soldiers, he heads home. When Maximus arrives, he discovers that his wife and children were brutally murdered. Barely alive, he is picked up by a slave trader, and soon he will sell it to a man named Proximo, who is engaged in gladiatorial battles.
Having become a victim of political intrigue, Maximus turns into a gladiator, because he has nothing more to lose, and he is not at all afraid of death. While the hero does not even suspect that in the near future he will face the most important battle in life.
