UAE - the most competitive tourism market of the GCC

In the fifth report, “Report on Competitiveness in the Tourism and Travel Industry,” presented by the World Economic Forum, the United Arab Emirates took 28th place in the world ranking and first in the GCC region. Compared to 2011, the UAE rose in the ranking by two positions.

The second position among the GCC countries is occupied by Qatar, which is at 41st place in the global ranking and has risen one line compared to 2011. It is worth recalling that Qatar is preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2022 and is actively investing in the development of the hospitality industry. So, in the next five years, 21 new hotels will be opened in this country.

The leaders of the entire world ranking are Switzerland, Germany and Austria. According to representatives of the World Economic Forum, "the steady growth of the entire industry is supported by an increase in the size of the middle class in growing markets, and the development of new technologies and the facilitation of border crossings have become a fair wind for the growth of the entire tourism industry."
