More than 30 Russian companies took part in the IDEX arms exhibition in the UAE

More than 30 representatives of the Russian military-industrial complex demonstrated the latest models of technical equipment and weapons at the international exhibition IDEX-2013, held at the National Exhibition Center in Abu Dhabi. Together, they brought over 800 exhibits to the exhibition.

It should be noted that the show, which is being held for the 11th time, this year has become the largest in history. The total area of the exhibition was 124 thousand square meters. meters, while the Russian pavilion took about a thousand square meters. meters, located both in exhibition halls and in the open.

According to Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Russia is a traditional participant in the IDEX exhibition. This year, general attention was focused on two new products of the Russian enterprise Uralvagonzavod, which exhibited the modernized T-90C tank and the Terminator combat vehicle. Demonstration show of the Russian tank took place on February 18 at the IDEX training ground.

The number of Russian exhibitors also included the largest defense enterprises. More than 200 of the best Russian weapons and military equipment were presented by Rosoboronexport, which is part of the joint exposition of Rosthekh Corporation. The basis of its exposition was a new version of the interactive exhibition complex, created on the basis of modern Russian simulators, with which specialists can get acquainted with the main characteristics and combat capabilities of Russian land and aviation equipment.

As part of a spectacular presentation on a large panoramic screen, viewers got acquainted with the technical characteristics and combat capabilities of the T-90S, BMP-3, BTR-80A, self-propelled guns Msta-S, MLRS Smerch, attack helicopters Mi-28NE and Ka-52 , Su-35 and MiG-29M fighters. For each sample, situations of combat use were simulated, in which the advantages of using Russian equipment were presented in detail.

“Russia is a traditional participant of IDEX, and we have always tried to bring something special to this main Middle East arms show. Last time we showed for the first time our interactive exhibition complex, which reflects Rosoboronexport’s new approach to working at international salons.

This time, full-scale samples of Uralvagonzavod were also added. I’m sure that this year Russian weapons will be in the spotlight, "said Nikolai Dimidyuk, Director for Special Assignments and head of the Rosoboronexport delegation

A wide range of anti-tank weapons was presented by the Instrument Design Bureau, including the Kornet-E, Metis-M1 ATGMs and the newest Kornet-EM, which are in high demand on the international market. In addition to the new land equipment, the Russian delegation presented at the exhibition comprehensive modernization programs for previously supplied models. First of all, these are T-72 tanks, BMP-2 and BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles.

Another promising segment in the Russian exposition is modern Russian air defense systems, most of which are presented at the Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern. According to Rosoboronexport experts, interest in the region is shown in virtually all Russian export models, from portable anti-aircraft missile systems to long-range systems. The reason for this interest is obvious: building a layered air defense system is a priority for countries that do not want to experience either political or military pressure, and Russian air defense systems today provide reliable protection against all modern and promising air attack systems.

According to Denis Manturov, who negotiated with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the emirate’s side was interested in "modern weapons developed and manufactured by the Russian military-industrial industry." Among them, the minister noted land equipment, aviation, and air defense equipment.

Denis Manturov also explained that with the UAE's high interest in Russian military equipment, the issue of education and training of military personnel remains relevant.

"We know that the emirates train specialists abroad. We need to establish cooperation with our military universities, so that the new generation of servicemen is focused on Russian military equipment and technologies," the minister said. He noted that after-sales service is also an important component in the sale of military equipment.

At the same time, the Russian minister emphasized that the prospects for Russian-Emirate cooperation are not limited to the military-industrial sphere.
