The Kennedys - Gallery of happiness

HOUSE "LOEWE" PRESENTED THE "THE KENNEDYS" PROJECT WITHIN THE EXHIBITION "PHOTOESPANIA". PICTURES FROM THE FAMILY ALBUM OF JOHN AND JACQUELINE KENNEDY PHOTOGRAPH BY MARC SHOW GATHERED AT THE EXPOSITION DEDICATED TO THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DALLAS TRAGEDY.

A series of shots, piercingly frank and very realistic, was made in the best traditions of documentary films. The show views genuine events and analyzes family scenes of America’s most famous couple as a true reporter. And he is clearly interested in unexpected angles and plots ...

Here is Jackie and Caroline: the baby, touchingly touches her mother and does not pay any attention to the camera. And here is Jacqueline herself with a big towel in her hands. He wipes a child who has just left the sea with his father. "A man who is always in a hurry" (as the journalists called John F. Kennedy), sitting a little cringe, sits next to him.

In blue jeans and a wet T-shirt, in moccasins and white socks - everything is in fashion of the early 1960s. Who is he? A simple American guy? Tall, slender, green-eyed favorite of the public and women? A politician who has not lost a single election in the country?

In the photo, Shaw is a caring husband and father. He is clearly waiting for Jackie to hand him a towel. She just smiles cheerfully.

He asks something from the child ... The usual scene of family life. Or maybe a well-thought-out public relations ship? Creating a new myth, about politics with a human face? Everything is possible in America! Although it is known for certain that Shaw was not called to film the happy family himself. Jackie invited him. And he seemed to happily agree, but managed to maintain his style and look! And this very clearly shows a very interesting picture.

Jacqueline in the Oval Office. Comfortably seated in her husband’s massive armchair, she examines the room with interest. On the mantelpiece are several of her portraits. Another shot, according to tradition, takes pride of place on the country's main desktop. On the face - a satisfied smile of the successful mistress of the White House and the first lady of the United States.

You can’t argue with photography. She manages to capture all the most secret emotions, especially if the camera is held in her hands by a classic of world photography! The newsreel of the Show shows with research accuracy that Jackie likes her role. Her smile, coupled with an imposing pose, very clearly indicates that the fragile-looking woman got her full!

Another landmark shot is a senator with his wife in a fashionable car (and Kennedy was too fond of open limousines!). Go to their voters: the traditional "welcome" is reflected on the windshield. As usual, crowds of fellow citizens around. Something is happening between Jackie and John: the camera captures a peculiar conversation. “I will lead you to the very top,” perhaps that is what John’s smile tells her. “I have no doubt about this at all,” her admiring glance answers. She is in her favorite pearl necklace, her challenge to respectable ladies with their diamonds and a jersey.

She knows how to look modern and at the same time very elegant. And brings European chic to American political circles. She adores her John, who is publicly calling her a fairy. Picks up suits and angles for him. Tolerates his numerous clan. And, in spite of everything, he adequately presents American family life in public ... Somewhere behind the scenes were a divorce and a gentleman’s agreement that had almost never taken place and didn’t ruin the idyll: they agreed that Jackie would return, and John would try to curb his temperament and finally remember his vow "support in joy and sorrow"! Also, numerous passions of the loving senator and president hid in the shadow of the camera. Jackie knew every hobby by name, and she even talked with some: "Marilyn, you will marry Jack, move to the White House, become the first lady and take full responsibility."

It is pointless to talk here about what really happened and what happened then. The death of two children, the death of Monroe, shots in Dallas ... All this has nothing to do with a happy couple with fantastically sincere and very stylish shots. Kennedy together, enjoy every moment and live "happily ever after." At least in the black and white photo of Mark Shaw.
