More than 2 million dirhams (US $ 600,000) has been allocated by the Dubai municipality for a program to reward the best taxi drivers, aimed at improving the service they provide. The Dubai Roads and Transport Committee (RTA) has developed a scheme that allows each driver to get an increase in their small salary.
For distinguished drivers, points will be awarded quarterly, which will then be converted into cash or valuable prizes. For example, a driver who has earned 100 points will receive 300 dirhams (US $ 83.3), a voucher for purchases with a nominal value of 100 dirhams (US $ 27), a certificate and other trifles that are pleasant for any taxi driver.
For less outstanding achievements, prizes and smaller gifts are provided. Points will be awarded based on a survey of passengers, the total amount of money earned by the driver for a shift. Any complaints will remove points from the overall balance of the driver.
